Veteran Nigerian rapper, Modenine has come after Jay Z for ‘using’ his 2008 song for his latest 4.44 album.
In an Instagram post, The rapper played his track, “My Skin is Black”, from the album “Paradigm Shift” album alongside Jay Z’s “Story of OJ”.
Modenine highlighted the similarities between his song and Jay Z’s song, saying, “Jay Z, common men, admit it”.
However, both artistes sampled the song ‘My skin is black’ by Nina Simone. The beat used in the song is a 1985 classic, therefore making it sound the same. Modenine should know this before going public to accuse Jay Z

Watch Modenine accuse Jay Z:
Singer Blackface has reacted to Modenine’s claims. In his reaction, he asked if it is “song theft or ideas cutting across borders?”
Blackface, who has previously accused 2Baba of song theft, said Jay Z remade Mode 9’s track (My Skin is Black) in a slower beat but having the bounce.
He also said fans will instead downplay Mode 9’s accusation, asking him where he had kept the song since 2008.
“This is why we #Nigerians are #hot #dope #aheadofthegame So my hommie @modenine_polimaf made this song in #2008 #myskinisblack now #JayZ remaking it in a different form with a slower beat but same bounce! N #still #myskinisblack ?is it #songthieft or ideas colliding #acrossborders #Hov ? But my fellow #nigerias will ask “where did you keep the song before somebody stole it”people sample in all forms these days peeps but its a new trend I guess Sometimes one don’t get the props when you work so hard to deserve it.. #modo keep doing you brov..? #beoriginal #hiphop lives in you #forever #realrecognisereal”
