On Saturday 24th September 2016, then nineteen-year-old year-old Ms. Rachel AmaDjan put up a splendid performance, outshining all other contestants at the grand finale of the Miss Ghana UK 2016 grand finale held at the Kensington and Chelsea Town Hall +in London.
She was crowned as the Miss Ghana UK 2016 Queen and became the face of the Miss Ghana UK Foundation, the corporate social initiative arm of the most popular and highly patronized beauty in the United Kingdom and across Europe.
The reigning Miss Ghana UK Queen is currently in the country to undertake activities of the Miss Ghana UK Foundation in the areas of education, health and social development. She is scheduled to meet and work with key stakeholders to sensitize the youth on various subjects including education and other issues of national concern.
“Following recent developments across the country with regards to the galamseymenace which can be perfectly described as a national security concern, I think it is important for us to all add our voices and in our own small way contribute to ensuring this becomes a thing of the past. It is not only destroying our society, but the human capital needed by the country to develop”, MsDjan said.
Another sector the Miss Ghana UK Foundation has been actively involved is education. Over the years, the organization has had a lot of engagement with its strategic partners and undertaken on its own series of activities aimed at bringing literacy to the citizenry.
“Sometimes, I ask myself how can I also impact the lives of people back in my home country. I think it is not just about what the government is doing but how wethe public figures, role models, celebrities, opinion leaders, business leaders, religious leaders and others can also assist in diverse ways to help develop the educational sector and other sectors? For me, that is the way to go and it is very possible once we all stay focused and committed to the agenda”, she added.
Miss Ghana UK is a beauty pageant held in the London for young ladies of Ghanaian descent resident in the United Kingdom. It is an annual event patronized by thousands of Ghanaians and other Africans living in the Diaspora (across Europe).
