On Monday, the official portrait of First Lady Melania Trump was released to the public.
In this portrait, the fashion model is pictured dressed in a power suit standing in the Yellow Oval Room in the White House. The 54-year-old is seen leaning on a desk with the Washington Monument in the background.
The picture is said to have been taken by a longtime family photographer, Regine Mahaux a day after President Trump’s inauguration.
From her hair to her unbuttoned shirt and even the look in her eyes in this official portrait, a lot of experts cannot help but infer there is an hidden meaning.
It is important to note that this is quite different from her first lady portrait taken way back in 2017.
Back then, Melania Trump was pictured in a coloured photo with some jewelry and she even had a half smile on.
This time around it is different which hints that Melania Trump is intending to have a more intentional second run. According to some experts, everything about this Melania Trump’s new portrait has a meaning.
The Washington Monument in the background signifies her strong connections to DC and not New York or Mar-a-Lago.
With the smile and colour gone from this new portrait, it is safe to say she means serious business. Her eyes are also looking directly at the camera giving an enigmatic vibe.
It is also worthy of note that she had her eyes hidden underneath a boater hat during her husband’s inauguration a week ago.
A Dillard University professor and political analyst, Robert Collins while speaking with Newsweek noted that the Melania Trump’s new portrait signifies that she understands the power of a photo.
He says, “The black and white choice is designed to communicate the seriousness of her position, which indicates that she might be planning on taking a more active role in the administration.
“Or at least more active than she did in the first term.”
He also referred to what he called Mrs Trump’s “power pose”
“She is in charge. She is at the top of the food chain. She’s the one giving orders,” he added.
“All of this together seems to indicate that Melania is trying to change her brand from being the ‘supportive wife’ in the background to being more of an equal partner in the administration.”
One thing we can definitely say is Melania Trump means business this time around as the first lady of the United States and she is not shy to show it.
