Ghanaian reggae artiste, Osagyefo says the reggae category of Ghanaian music has received very little backing from personalities who are supposedly supposed to play key roles in pushing the genre.
This he expressed in a social media post, calling some media players out for reluctance in propelling reggae/dancehall music in Ghana.
He wrote, “all those who themselves voice GH Reggae/Dancehall, who made them. They are reaping where they did not show.”
Osagyefo elaborated more on his post in an interview on the Friday edition of Showbiz Agenda on Zylofon FM, where he mentioned names like, Mr. Logic, King Lazagy, Bulldog and several others.
He stated that the above mentioned stakeholders of Reggae/Dancehall music in Ghana are supposed to empower allies of the genre.
He called on all stakeholders to create mass awareness for the genre in order to attain attention from the media.
He indicated that only a few reggae musicians are making it in the system despite the numerous undiscovered reggae artistes in Ghana.
“There are several reggae artistes in Ghana but they are not able to shine. The industry is too closed”, he stated.
He further called on influential Reggae/Dancehall enthusiasts to educate the public on the real pioneers, who championed the movement to have the genre accepted nationwide.
