Actress Lupita Nyong’o has covered Vogue magazine for the third time, and spoke strongly about racial issues.
The tag line on the cover was “I want to create opportunities for people of color.” The Jungle Book actress spoke about how black skin color is viewed, also crediting model Alek Wek for fighting it.
“I’ve never had so many people call me beautiful until you showed up. I get called to auditions I never would have been called to before. And I know it’s because you exist. Alek Wek changed how dark people saw themselves.
“That I could do the same in a way for somebody somewhere is amazing. There is no point in getting your picture taken if it doesn’t move somebody, Right?”

Lupita told the magazine that she was determined to use her star power to create chances for other colored people.
“There are certain cards that have been dealt me that I take on. I want to create opportunities for other people of color because I’m fortunate enough to have a platform to do that.”
She also slammed remarks by a talent agent named Tracy Christian, who said her career would last for only 3 years because of her skin color.
“I have to deafen my ears to that Christian lady,” she said. “She is looking at me as part of the cultural tapestry. I am living and breathing. That person is not considering what I had for breakfast, how that is sitting in my stomach, and why I didn’t do well with that audition.”
