Leila Djansi’s critically acclaimed drama that confronts sex trafficking in Ghana, ‘Like Cotton Twines’ has received a total of 13 mentions in the just announced nominations for the 2016 Ghana Movie Awards. The film which recently won the Savannah Film Festival Award for Best Narrative Feature, has been nominated for Best Film, Best Directing, Best Cinematography and more. Like Cotton Twines stars star actress Yvonne Okoro, star of BET’s The Game Jay Ellis, David Dontoh, Luckie Lawson, Adjetey Anang, Ophelia Dzidzornu and Hollywood executive, actress/producer Miranda Bailey who produced last years award winning film Diary of a Teenage Girl.

Topping the 2016 Ghana Movies Awards nomination list with 14 nods, is ‘Sala’. ‘Children of The Mountain’ also has 12 nominations.

The 2016 Ghana Movies Awards will be held at the Kempinski Hotel on December 4. A nominee’s party will be heard on November 26th ahead of the main ceremony.
