Ghanaian rapper and songwriter Kwesi Arthur has taken to social media to publicly address what he describes as a long-running dispute involving his former management, Ground Up Chale, and its co-founder Glen Boateng.
In a strongly worded statement shared on his verified social media account, the award-winning artist alleged that he is currently being asked to pay $150,000 for the use of images of himself in relation to a project he is attempting to release independently. According to Kwesi Arthur, the claim is based on assertions that Ground Up Chale owns his image, music, and all associated rights dating from 2016 to the present.
Kwesi Arthur further stated that despite no longer working with or having any affiliation with the company since the release of his debut album Son of Jacob, he has not earned any income from his music during the period he worked with the label. He also alleged that he has been subjected to what he described as “constant threats and manipulation.”

In the statement, the rapper expressed concern for his safety, adding that if “anything happens” to him or if his current independent project is taken down, responsibility should be attributed to Glen Boateng and the Ground Up Chale team. He claimed that deliberate efforts are being made to prevent him from releasing music independently.
Kwesi Arthur also opened up about the personal toll the situation has taken on him, noting that the prolonged dispute has significantly affected his wellbeing and mental health. He explained that his decision to speak publicly was motivated by concerns for the safety of himself and his family.
“I’ve tried not to say anything for a long time,” the artist wrote, “but for the safety of myself and my family, I choose to publicly share the truth.”
As of the time of this publication, Ground Up Chale and Glen Boateng have not publicly responded to the allegations. The situation has sparked widespread conversation across social media, with fans and industry observers calling for clarity, transparency, and fair treatment of artists within the music industry.
This is a developing story.
