“The first proper soundclash event”, as King Lagazee himself would put it came off on October 28 at Roots & Soul Restaurant in Dansoman, with Fyah Krew Sound winning a trophy and a cash prize of GHC 500.

Ras Kalio of the Fyah Krew Sound expressed his heartfelt message to us via interview. He says, “the feeling was great winning against a sound crew that was older than us. But we knew it was going to be an easy win for us because we were well prepared for it and wanted to prove a point that, regardless of us living at the countryside doesn’t mean we don’t know the rudiments of soundclash culture. The trophy and cash prize is a good boost for our career as Reggae/Dancehall Selectors. It also means more recognition for us by the public and the media. We will not just ‘chop’ the money; we will use it to cut more dubplates to beef up our catalogue. Special thanks to our godfather, Kojo Kombolo and Redwan. Big thanks to every other person who has supported us and keeps supporting us. Nuff big up to our Crew members – Vibration, Ras oh jah, Ras Jewel, Legge Man and Empress Natika”.

They won over King Bash who contended with them on the competition.

King Lagazee who organized the show comments…..”I was impressed with contenders of the Clash, Fyah Krew Sound and King Bash with their performance. I also love the way the patrons were responding to the whole show. In all it was a great show. As I set it up now, a lots of such sound system culture Clash is going to happen. We even planning another one for the end November. Sound system culture is an African can thing and the first Ever proper settings Clash which #LagazeeSoundz Set up was seriously loved by Ghanaians. I believe strongly that sound system culture leaves in the blood of Ghanaians already, so they will embrace it.”

The show had support from Hitz 103.9fm, Irie Ites Studio, Suumoni Records, Roots & Soul Restaurant and Beenie Words.
