Wilson and Ann got the wedding of their dreams after news of their frugal wedding went viral.

After news and photos of their $1 wedding went viral on social media last month, many well-meaning Kenyans offered to throw Wilson and Ann Mutura the wedding party of their dreams and they did just that yesterday.

The couple had worn jeans and T-shirts and exchanged two steel circles as rings at their first wedding because all their efforts at raising money had failed and they just couldn’t afford anything more than that.

The couple looked really happy and in love at their $1 wedding.

Wilson, a 27-year-old fruit seller, had even been advised by his older brother to forego the wedding and live with his 24-year-old girlfriend without getting married but he wasn’t having any of it. The two lovers wanted  “a permanent and blessed union” and not even money could stand in their way.

For the Valentine’s Day ceremony however, Wilson and Ann got to wear proper wedding gears and exchange new wedding rings.

They also rode in luxurious vehicles and generally had a swell time at the second event put together by individuals and cooperate bodies.

The second wedding party which took place at an upmarket venue in Kenya’s capital of Nairobi is estimated to have cost $35,000.

Lots of people were of the opinion that the money could’ve been given to the couple to help them set up a business but according to the wedding planner, Aaltonen Jumba, that has already been taken care of. “The couple have already been supported by others financially. Different people gave different things at different levels. They have been given a greenhouse farm, a honeymoon and have been promised money to start a business,” he said.
