Producers of Just not Married  one of the eight Nigerian movies selected for presentation at the 2016 edition of the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) are ecstatic about the reception the movie has received.

Just Not Married is one of eight Nigerian movies selected as part of the City to City Spotlight Program on Lagos. It received standing ovation at its international premiere at TIFF, and has been one of the most talked about movies in the City to City selections.

Cameron Bailey, Artistic Director of TIFF describes the movie as “the favorite of all TIFF Staff”

Director of the movie,  Uduak-Obong Patrick says of this experience: “Being at TIFF 2016 has been an exciting and humbling experience for me. I do not take it with levity that my first attempt at making a feature film was selected. That for me is nothing but Grace at work. The people here have been amazing, the support has been great, the exposure has enlightened me and I have learnt new things which for me are absolutely important. The knowledge I have gained from TIFF can only and will only spur me to make better films.”

The movie producer, Judith Audu says:  “it’s been an overwhelming and humbling experience to share our very first produced feature movie on a platform as big as TIFF. The way the movie has been accepted by the audience from all over the world at the festival has just been so surreal”.

Judith says she believes it can only get better from here as all the 8 Nigerian films that got screened are world class and got the crowd cheering in appreciation of the work of creativity from Nigeria.

The Edo born actress and filmmaker  says she feels lucky and blessed to be counted as a filmmaker at a historical time in Nollywood like this concluding that “ the support from every Nigerian present in Toronto, all the filmmakers as well as the Lagos State government has been fantastic.”

The world premiere was attended by several notable Nigerian Government Officials, Media Personalities, Top Filmmakers and Celebrities like|: Honourable Commissioner for Information and Strategy at the Lagos State Government, Steve Ayorinde, Founder/Executive Director AFRIFF, Chioma Ude, Kunle Afolayan, Mahmood Ali-Balogun, Steve Gukas, Patience Nzegwu, Hilda Dokubo, Kene Mkparu Canadian actors and personalities like; Helena-Alexis Seymour, Matthew Willson, Andrea Drepaul, Daniel Pillai, Melinda Michael.
