Earlier in the year, the 51-year-old was appointed as Vice-Chancellor of the University of Cape Town (UCT). In a statement, she said: “I wasn’t sure if UCT was ready for me. I’m a bit young and my earrings are too big – I’m too colourful!”.
She is uncompromising about her style and self-expression, refusing to conform either intellectually or in terms of fashion.
