Reggae/dancehall has now become a huge export across the globe. The music genre shot lots of artists around the world; Bob Marley, Peter Tosh, Bonty Killer, Beenie Man, Vybz Kartel and on.
After 5 years stay in Chicago, USA, Ghanaian born Kwame Chief Asante Ababio also known in showbiz circle as Jah Shanti, is one of the numerous artists who love the genre and see the business side of it professionally. He landed at the Kumasi airport last night, he has returned home to officially introduce himself to the Ghanaian and African market at large, as well as grow his fan base. He started off playing instruments alongside singing at the age of 10 years, since then he has consciously made the decision to major it as a profession. In 2014, he had become well groomed and established artist, possessing all the artistic qualities. He has been practicing music practically everyday to perfect the art to compliment his talent. His ability to introduce the realities of life into his lyrics while making a sweet rythm is staggering. He combines local dialects like twi, English, pidgin and patoa. His versatility, admiring looks combined with his talent has earned him glorious opportunities to featured on most concerts in Chicago; Samini Live in Chicago, Mr Eazi Live in Chicago, Burna Boy Live in Chicago and has headline most college reggae concerts such as the University of Illinois annual reggae concert two times in a row, Indiana University African Night 2017. Currently, he is headling his own concert viz “Koming to Amerika”.
The Afrian music business in Chicago is on the rise, African, Americans and the Caucasians are gradually falling in love with the grooves that genres come with, thanks to the influence of people Wizkid, Mr Eazi, Sarkodie and Stonebwoy. He has about 7singles to his credit and 4 features, at the time working around the release of an EP that has 6 songs, of which all are already done.
He is influenced by legends like Bob Marley , the main reason he chose to professionalize reggae/dancehall. He love for Bob Marley’s songs made him like people who started dancehall in Ghana like Zap Mallet, Samini, Yogi Doggy and Terry Bonchaka.
