Temidayo Abudu is the latest person to lend her voice in support of Dorcas Shola Fapson.
The film producer and daughter to media exec, Mo Abudu took to her Instagram to express her disappointment in the people questioning Dorcas’s story.
She wrote:
Nigerians insinuating that @ms_dsf has lied for fame is disgusting. Most especially the women! As women we should be able to stand together for what is right. What is the reasoning behind this?
Rape culture in this country is ripe and we see it everyday. From young girls and boys being molested by their own family members to lecturers in school sexually harassing students, we know these things happen. So why is it so unbelievable that a taxi driver would try to rape and kidnap her? Would it have been better if worse happened and then we know that her claims are true?
Do you remember a few months back when another taxify driver molested the breasts of one of its riders? This is nothing new. Men rape women in this country every day and get away with itWe live in a misogynistic society where it is always the woman’s fault. Even if she wears a skirt down to her knees and a shirt that covers her breasts it’s still her fault. Does it matter what she wears? Is it the woman’s fault if a man cannot control himself? I’m disgusted, I am sad, I am tired, I am angry and I am worried for us all.
What will we teach our sons?150 women came out to speak against Larry Nassar, he is now serving 175 years imprisonment. The first of many men who will spend the rest of their lives in jail for violating a woman. Most of you would have called them liars, no evidence, no proof. He was charged on Incidents that took place years ago!
Did you see the video of PHILANDO CASTILE the Black man who got shot in his own car by police? His girlfriend recorded the whole thing, she watched her boyfriend die in front of her. She could have been shot too, instead she recorded the entire event as proof. Because she knows the world we live in today. Evil wins over good and in this case The Woman loses to the man. In our society, the woman is the second class citizen and this must change.
1 – what was she wearing?
2 – why does she have pepper spray?
3 – how did she have time to record?
4 – why move at that time?See questions oh! These are all the wrong questions, distracting us from what’s really important – She felt threatened, her life was in danger.
