Is Bisa K’dei the King of Highlife?

Highlife Singer, Ronald Kwaku Dei Appiah, better known as Bisa Kdei revealed in a recent interview that the good people of Ghana has conferred on him the ‘Highlife King’ title.

          According to Bisa Kdei, he was given the ‘Highlife King’ title and not himself who stood up oneday to called himself as such.

          Speaking to Nikki Samonas, host of the Breakfast Live morning show on TV Africa that, it was people who have been tagging him Highlife King and he accepts it because he has been pushing the agenda of the genre for long.

          He said;             

“I’ve never said I am highlife king only for Ghanaians to come and beat me the following day. It is a good thing when they call me highlife king and I accept it like that”.

          The ‘Azonto Ghost’ hit-maker revealed that he could not dare or risk his life by calling himself the Highlife king for people and other Highlife sings to came after him with unkind words.

           “I didn’t make myself the Highlife King but Ghanaians started calling me the Highlife King, well I also accepted it. I will not call myself Highlife King for other Highlife singers to chase me with insults.”

          Bisa Kdei stated emphatically that the highlife genre is not dead because if it was,  why do we still listen to his soundtracks? so the constant talk that it is dead should cease.

          He has recently launched his third studio album, ‘Highlife Connect’.

          He is known for the hits, “mansa”, “broda”, “life” just to mention a few which swept prestigious awards at the vgmas in 2016 including the artist of the year.
