If men wore skyscraper heels, they might look like these. This summer, sandals are not about elegance or subtly. We already noticed that all the latest sandals are seriously chunky.
Chanel, Marc Jacobs, Miu Miu and Rick Owens have sent variations on the ‘ugly sandal’ down the catwalk, but brothers Dean and Dan Caten of Dsquared2 have surpassed them all.
Dsquared2 have showcased an ugly sandal trainer heel hybrid on the runway during Paris Fashion Week.
The trainer/heel/sandals appear to be a loving homage to the Balenciaga Triple S Trainers, matching the red, yellow and blue colour palate and the grotesque dad trainer appearance. They feature a platform and a seriously high heel in moulded white plastic, plus buckle straps.
The Italian brand has now announced on Instagram that the hybrid shoes will be available in several colour schemes and styles, including the sky-high block heels and platform trainers. The model seen on the Paris runway are called ‘The Giant Heels’. And they are giant.
