Chidimma Adetshina, the 2024 Miss Universe Nigeria has taken to social media to open up on the several challenges she has been facing.

Chidimma Adetshina

In a video posted on social media on Friday, the beauty queen who is currently in Mexico for the Miss Universe Pageant, spoke out about her journey so far.

Chidimma Adetshina explained how emotionally and mentally challenging the journey has been and how tired her mind is.

“My mind says I’m tired, I can’t do it any more, but my heart says don’t give up”, she wrote in the video.
In the caption, Chidimma also noted that she has always dreamt of walking the Miss Universe stage for years and expressed how proud she is that her dream is finally going to be a reality.

“2017 I had this dream of walking the Miss Universe stage with no idea of what it means to be a Queen.

“7 years later, in just exactly 8 days I, Chidimma Vanessa Onwe Adetshina will be walking the Miss Universe stage.

“Win or not I am so proud of myself and filled with so much joy and fulfilment for I am about to accomplish what once seemed impossible. I envisioned this moment and I’m about to make it a reality.

Speaking more on her journey, she noted that it has not been easy while adding that there were days she felt unworthy and undeserving.

“This journey hasn’t been easy for me mentally and emotionally. The tears, the pain, the trauma.

“The days I felt like giving up, the days I felt unworthy and undeserving, however I refuse to let anyone or anything dim my vision.

“This achievement is not just mine but it’s for NIGERIA, it’s for AFRICA. Your support and encouragement has been the fuel to my fire.

“To anyone who has ever doubted themselves, I see you and i believe in you. Your dreams are valid. Dont let fear hold you back. Don’t let doubt whisper you can’t because YOU CAN

“The journey will never be easy…
Success is not easy….
This is just the beginning…

The 23-year-old who is representing Nigeria in the Miss Universe pageant has indeed had a controversial journey.

She started out at the Miss Universe South Africa pageant but withdrew after controversies over her family background surfaced.
Her parents were accused of fraud and identity theft which at the end, the beauty queen dropped out from the event.

Miss Universe Nigeria organizers would later reach out to Chidimma inviting her for the same pageant in Nigeria, which she went on to win.

Immediately she got to Mexico, a South African group launched a petition to stop her from competing in the Miss Universe 2024 pageant.

This, is in addition to the Department of Home Affairs in South Africa announcing that her and her mother’s South African identity and travel documents would be revoked.

The Miss Universe Nigeria has however, persevered through all these and is set to give her all during the Miss Universe pageant that has its grand finale on November 16.
