Hon. Okudzeto Ablakwa has made a GHC 10,000 pledge towards Obrafour’s Foundation. The Member of Parliament, Okudzeto Ablakwa made the announcement on the night of “Pae Mu Ka” 20 years’ launch at Tang Palace in Accra – Wednesday, May 29, 2019.

“Obrafofro Nti” is a newly established Foundation by the Legendary Ghanaian Rapper (Obrafour) to give education to needy cum deprived children especially in the rural areas of Ghana. As typical in most communities in Ghana, most of the children work on their parents’ farms and petty jobs during week days after school and sometimes during times they are expected to be in the classroom learning; thus, the foundation has been established to help bridge the gap between rural school children and the (affluent) ones in the city where there are bigger and better opportunities.

Hon. Okudzeto Ablakwa is the MP for North Tongu Constituency in the Volta Region. “I have been a great fan of Obrafour since my High School days at Presec. I was the Vice President of the Scripture Union (SU) at the time and it was more like a taboo to go beyond appreciating gospel music to appreciating secular music but at that time I had to defy the odds and approve of Obrafour’s artistic lyrics and maturity with how he presented his music from that time till now. I always tell people I am the biggest Obrafour fan in the world,” he bragged.

The occasion brought together well-meaning and influential figures from the Music and Movies circles as well politicians; notable among the key attendees were Yvonne Nelson, Sarkodie, Manifest, Da Hammer, Abraham Ohene-Djan, Ruddy Kwakye, E.L, Pappy Kojo, just to name a few.

“Obrafour”, born Michael Kwabena Okyere Darko, has been a beacon of hope and a yardstick for many Ghanaian Rappers who saw the need and essence of using local Ghanaian dialect to project sane lyrics and rhythm on the ticket of Hiplife; which later inspired and metamorphosed into other fusion local genres with varied names by young Rappers and even his contenders at the time to use his legacy as a tool to educate and entertain the populace.

November 9, 2019 is set for the main concert to celebrate the 20 years’ journey of the ‘timeless album (Pae Mu Ka) that shaped a culture’. Prior to that, there would be a 12-docuseries on Obrafour and his music journey across various television channels and social media, more importantly. Kumasi, Takoradi, Techiman, amongst others have been listed as part of the nationwide tour to celebrate #PaeMuKa Album.

Also out-doored are some merchandise. “Funds accrued from the sale of the merchandise will be directed towards supporting the Obrafofro Nti Foundation”, says Edward Owusu, one of the leading faces for the #PaeMuKaAt20 initiative. The 20 anniversary will also see Obrafour lead a ‘Music Cypher Series’ where budding rappers will be run through a session and grooming as well.

2 decades ago, Obrafour and his outfit, Execution Entertainment, was privileged enough to issue not only a majestic body of art – but also produce a generation-defining catalogue “Pae Mu Ka” to extend legacy and the album has become one of the timeless records of Ghanaian Music History.
