In today’s dating landscape, many advocate for the practice of multiple dating, engaging with several potential partners simultaneously before entering a committed relationship. So, I decided to talk to 5 ladies and five men about the pros and cons of multiple dating, and here are the opinions shared by these people on multiple dating before committing to a relationship.

LADIES
Sharon
I believe it is not worth it to date multiple people at a time. Even after you find the one you want to stick with, it might be hard in marriage to stick to one person.

Paulina
I support multiple dating at first but then, it has to be spelt out at the beginning that they are still seeing other people and are not yet exclusive.

Tiara
As for me, I don’t like it, I don’t think it’s really good, before I got married, God was my witness I never double-dated until I met my husband. I think some people do it because of the saying “Don’t put all your eggs in one basket” which is not supposed to be so, multiple dating is not healthy, especially with what the world has turned to now, pre-marital sex here and there, having multiple dating is also same as having multiple sex partners except one vow to keep him/herself.
Multiple dating is not good and it’s even dangerous to one’s destiny, some people think if they engage in multiple dating, if one disappoints them, they can go for another one but at times it’s not always the case. Like a Yoruba adage “Eni to ba Le eku meji,o ma po fo, if you want to catch two rats, you might end up not carrying any of them”. As for me, it’s not good, not healthy and it’s very dangerous at the same time.

Janet
I don’t subscribe to the idea of multiple dating in relationships. It’s a drain on time and energy, and more often than not, it leaves a mess of emotions in its wake. Juggling different connections can cloud one’s mind, tug at the heart, and create a whirlwind of psychological strain. Instead of fostering deep, meaningful connections, it scatters focus, leaving people emotionally depleted and often confused. It’s like planting seeds in too many gardens—you end up with none truly flourishing.

Sewa
From my perspective, it’s not a good act, because it means disappointing your partner.
The excuse for having multiple partners is “What if he or she breaks my heart after investing my all in him or her”. But that doesn’t make it a mature or decent act. It also endangers your partner’s health, as it exposes both parties to STDs.

MEN
Olajide
Multiple dating isn’t good actually from my point of view. Loyalty isn’t there anymore.

Seye
I’m certainly of the opinion that people should explore before making the final decision to Date. WHY? Because your behaviour may not align with someone else and that’s the Thanos of red flags.
So, take your time and when you find the person that your behaviours align with, stick with them. Now, how long should you observe? is a gist for another day.

Dolapo
It is a no-no thing for. And as a child of God, you should not do such. It leads to emotional harm and mistrust.

Bayo
In my experience, people often mistake what dating means. Yes, you should go on multiple dates, and you can talk to as many people as possible at the same time before committing to one person.

Joshua
Multiple dating is bad, it shows a lack of contentment.

While multiple dating may not be suitable for everyone, it offers various advantages that can enhance understanding of relationships and personal preferences.

Exploring connections with different individuals, both girls and boys can establish a foundation for healthier, more informed partnerships in the future.
