What do you do when you get a direct message from a verified Twitter account named ‘Support Team’? Well you could very easily fall for it. Luckily for me, when the hacked account for TV personality, Nana Aba Anamoah sent me a message on Twitter, I quickly noticed it because of our chat history.
The phishing message said:
“Hi Dear User, Copyright infringement was detected in one of the tweets on your account. If you think copyright infringement is wrong, you need to provide feedback. Otherwise, your account will be suspended within 24 hours. You can give feedback at the link below. Thank you for your understanding. sites.google.com/view/help-twit Thanks, Twitter Support”
Of course, if I had clicked on the link and entered my Twitter account thinking it was an official message from Twitter, they could have taken over my account also.
The hackers have changed the bio details of Nana Aba but still maintain her username, because if they change that, the account would lose its verified badge.
