The less than two-year-old business of Ahoufedua Textiles has made a tremendous impact in awakening the fashion consciousness of many African-Americans, and therefore not surprising that it was selected to vend at the Essence Festival this year from July 1- 3.
according to the founder and owner of Ahoufedua Textile, “I had all my clothes and beads made in Ghana so I can support my community back home. I named the business Ahoufedua because I want everyone that wears my ‘ntuma dress’ or buys my ‘ntuma’ to be the center of attention at every occasion. ‘Ntuma’ is becoming chic in the Western world and I want my people to benefit as well.”
AhoufeduaTextiles can be found at the Essence Festival at the Convention Centre Booth C22 . Visit ahoufeduatextiles.com for more info.
Music has always been at the heart of the annual Essence Festival, now in its 22nd year, and this year will be no different. Fans will get to hear from first-timers Mariah Carey, Puff Daddy and Jeremih as well as from festival veterans Charlie Wilson, Maxwell, New Edition, Tyrese and Lalah Hathaway — all scheduled to perform inside the Superdome in New Orleans from Friday through Sunday.
