Preparations are feverishly underway for this year’s Ghana stands in worship concert, which is touted as the biggest gospel outdoor programme on Ghana’s event calendar. Event organisers – Imajin advertising, say, the show is expected to host about 25,000 patrons at the Accra Sports stadium, attracting lovers of both old and contemporary gospel music to a memorable worship experience on August 27 at 6pm.
It will be recalled that last year’s event was an explosive concert which featured Sinach from Nigeria, who engulfed patrons with ‘the name of Jesus’, ‘break every chain’, ‘I know who I am’ and other popular sing-alongs, creating a charged atmosphere of praise and worship. The concert also saw on stage, America’s William McDowell , singing his top tracks ‘I give myself away’, ‘you are God alone’, ‘I won’t go back’ and many of his sizzling tunes.
Headlining this year’s explosive and unique musical encounter are three Internationally acclaimed gospel musicians – from the U.S.A is award-winning Gospel musical icon, Micah Stampley, who is known for his hit tracks ‘Holiness’ , ‘Our God’, ‘Heaven on Earth’ and other popular renditions sang in churches across the globe.
His popular song “Imela” has swept through the continent with a spirited and uplifting effect, touching many souls. Nigeria’s Nathaniel Bassey, is a spiritual and artistic masterpiece who has dominated the airwaves with many of his compositions including ‘someone is at the door’, ‘Elohim’, ‘no other God’ and ‘Book of life’. Nathaniel Bassey is expected to mount the stage together to perform his melodious tune ‘this God is too good’, which featured Micah Stampley. This song will send patrons standing on their feet and holding hands together in worship.
The third international act for the evening is expected from the anointed songwriter, singer and music producer, Benjam Dube from South Africa, who is credited on many international stages for his electrifying zulu performances and songs ‘Elshaddai adonai’. ‘eh yahweh kumama’, ‘ketsepile’ and ‘bow down and worship him’.
The program is expected to thrill Christians from different denominations and music lovers generally when various choirs from selected churches mount the stage with beautiful renditions and original compositions. Elder Mireku, Ceccy Twum and Joe Mettle are also expected to take turns in praise and worship, with a special tribute to Danny Nettey who was earlier slated to perform at the concert.
The event which is sponsored by MTN is themed to seek the face of the Lord towards free and fair elections this year and also to celebrate twenty years of MTN in Ghana.
Since its inception 2013, MTN Ghana Stands in Worship brought together over 20,000 patrons in an unforgettable worship experience with Donnie Mcclurkin (USA), William McDowell (USA), Sinach (Nigeria) , Mthunzi Namba (South Africa) , Uche Agu (Nigeria) and many more International and local gospel acts that took the nation by storm.
Noted men and women of God such as Archbishop Duncan Williams, Bishop Dag Heward-Mills, Rev. Christy Doe Tetteh, Rev. Agyin Asare, Rev. Sam Korankye Ankrah, Rev. Steve Mensah, Rev. Lawrence Tetteh, Rev. Ampiah Kofi have regularly endorsed the program and attend the event with their congregation to pray, praise and worship the Lord.
