Ivy Preko upon her return to the States contacted Ms. Ghana USA Organization to inform us of the purchase of the airline ticket and attempted to hold the Ms. Ghana USA Organization responsible for all travel expenses. Not only did I, Gloria Opare, the president of Ms. Ghana USA decided not to reimburse Ms. Preko for the ticket purchase, but I also sent her a copy of her contract reminding her that “As Ms. Ghana USA 2015, I will provide my own travel and accommodations, complete wardrobe, accessories, make- up, shoes, beauty products, costumes, attire and any other product, item or thing necessary for any and all appearances, events, competitions and productions of the Ms. Ghana USA Pageant”.
I believe the Ms. Ghana USA Organization fulfilled its promise to Ms. Preko regarding her travel, a ticket was given to her but she refused to use it because of her father’s fear of her transit connection in Nigeria. Ms. Preko would not have been the first queen to have a connecting flight in Nigeria and sure would not be the last.
As a business owner of several companies, I understand how timelines are never met due to unforeseen circumstances that may come up during any production whether its clothing or cosmetic, so we choose not to hold our sponsors responsible for any in-kind gifts, because of that there is a tentative agreement with our sponsor to provide any prizes or awards.
As we prepare for our next event, we really want to focus on its preparation instead of any false accusations and retaliations from Ms. Ivy Preko. We look forward to the continuing success and humanitarian efforts of our future Ms. Ghana USA Queens.
