It might have taken her a looooong while but Lady Gaga is finally taking a stand and denouncing R.Kelly following the release of the heart wrenching documentary, ‘Surviving R.Kelly‘.
Gaga took to her Twitter to apologise for taking so long to speak up while stating that she’s 1000% with the victims of R.Kelly’s abuse.
She also explained that their controversial single, ‘Do What U Want (With My Body) was recorded during a dark phase of her life, where she, a victim of sexual herself, hadn’t quite processed what happened to her.
‘Do What U Want’ was released in 2013 as the second single off her Artpop album. And at the time, R.Kelly was already facing numerous allegations of sexual misconduct, so the collaboration, the song itself and the various performances of it raised quite a lot of eyebrows.
Gaga seems to have finally understood that the song appears to be a sort of nod to her collaborator’s disgusting behaviour so she has decided to pull it from iTunes and all other streaming platforms.
