Ferragamo Announces Paul Andrew As Its First Women’s Footwear Creative Director

Paul Andrew becomes the new creative director for Salvatore Ferragamo’s women footwear collection.

The British shoe designer’s position was made official on Thursday, September 9, 2016, vogue.com reported. Paul’s job is to lead the next generation of women’s footwear for Ferragamo.

Paul Andrew’s selection comes after Massimiliano Giornetti resigned from the position as Ferragamo‘s creative director in March 2016.

Giornetti worked with Ferragamo for 16 years.

According to a statement by allure.com Paul Andrew said, “I look forward to bringing a new perspective to the company in line with the demands of today’s marketplace, marrying the power of its heritage and industrial force with high design and the latest innovations in material and make.”

Ferragamo’s president, Ferruccio Ferragamo also disclosed his excitement at working with Paul’s “dynamic and established talent”.

In addition, Ferruccio said in a statement published by vogue.com, “We have a proud history of nurturing design talent and we believe that Paul’s credo very much matches the spirit at the heart of our house.”

Paul Andrew began his career at Alexander McQueen before breaking out in 2012 to start his own shoe line. A-list celebrities such as Cate Blanchett, and Lupita Nyong’o have worn Andrew’s designs.
