Rapper Falz has often been accused of shaming prostitutes and women who engage in transactional sex. And these accusations aren’t unfounded. The rapper seems to have made it a point of duty to always berate these women in his songs with lyrics like “instead of make you work you dey find alhaji, you don turn your body to cash and carry” among others.
And last night at the private listening for his new album, the rapper, born Folarin Falana, explained why he won’t be going easy on “runz girls” anytime soon.
According to him, transactional sex is against his beliefs, and if feminists are going to fight against women being objectified, he sees it as hypocritical that they will turn around and fight him for speaking against women treating their bodies like commodities.
When OAP Gbemi Olateru-Olagbegi, who was a guest at the event pointed out that people’s angst mainly stem from the fact that he doesn’t keep the same energy with the men who patronise these prostitutes, the rapper said he already spoke out against the men in his song with Ajebutter22, ‘Regards To Your Mumsy’, and that if we keep listening we just might hear him speak against them again.
