Burna Boy, the 90’s baby was back in the UK for a homecoming concert which took place at Eventim Apollo, Hammersmith.
Just about a week ago, the Afro/Dancehall fusion singer/songwriter/rapper dropped his latest body of work as a 7 track EP, titled ‘Redemption’.
The Burna Boy homecoming concert not only celebrated the first time the artist was back in the UK, it also marked the 56th year anniversary of Nigeria’s independence.
In true Burna Boy style, he arrived on stage in a police van which got the crowd in a frenzy.
His fans got to see Burna Boy in high spirits performing past hits and new classics from ‘Redemption EP’.
With Burna Boy’s Redemption E.P he collaborated with producer/friend, Leriq. Creating another masterpiece with the fusion of afrobeats and dancehall.
“The Redemption EP is a celebration of the 90’s and his mixed roots. Produced by longtime friend and collaborator Eric LeriQ Utere. It showcases his incredible versatility as an artist, fusing Trap, Dancehall and Afrobeat sounds seamlessly.” – Emma Stevens
It’s impossible to talk about Afrobeats and not hear Burna’s name. Merging the sounds from across the lands he’s worked with Sean Paul, D’Banj, Krept and Konan, Wizkid, Mr Eazi and many many more.
He’s especially drawn comparisons to Fela Kuti, which is a huge compliment and even more personal for Burna, as his Grandfather managed Fela.
“Redemption” is available for download on iTunes, Spotify, Amazon, Music Plus, Boom Player and Google Play.
