Somewhere last year it was rumoured that rapper ElormAdablah who performs with the mononym EL had signed Ghanaian musical identical twins; Dope Nation. Many fans of the twins were happy for them and what even made it more exciting was the money allegedly involved in the deal.
It was rumoured that EL splashed a whopping $2.5 Million dollars on getting the signatures of Dope Nation onto VO Nation.
However speaking in an interview with Chelsy Sey on the magazine show Ryse N Shyne on Takoradi based YFM, the VGMA best group nominees debunked that rumour. According to the ‘EISH’ crooners, they were never signed to E.L’s VO Nation but rather associated with the brand as a family.
‘When we left Takoradi to Accra to start our music career, we met E.L and he saw our beat making skills and showed us a few things. We have massive love for EL, so when VO Nation came about it wasn’t a matter of EL signing us, everybody knew that we will be inside VO Nation but there was nothing like pen to paper. It was just a family thing’. So, No we are not signed to VO Nation’.
Dope Nation is composed of Micheal Boafo, popularly known as B2, and Tony Boafo, known as Twist. They have 4 nominations in the upcoming VGMA 2019 in the categories; Best African collaboration, Best Group, New Artiste of the year and Hiplife song of the year.
