As more details start to emerge of Mercy Aigbe‘s alleged beating by her husband, Lanre Gentry; it must ring of deja vu for the embattled actress who has always put up a front of being happily married and madly in love.

While both parties have yet to confirm or deny these new reports, it is reminiscent of a similar story they tried hard to conceal four years ago.

In 2013, it was reported that the actress was publicly humiliated by her husband at a Lagos lounge where she was being interviewed. According to reports at the time, Mercy had seemingly disappeared from the proceedings and after a while, her husband started to look for her. It created a ruckus and Gentry was taken to another room where he found his wife who was alone, but was wearing a night dress-not the actual clothes she came in. He was said to have then descended on her with blows, dragging her by the hair into his car and drove off.

In a bid to control the damage, the couple made a video recording of them clearing the air and insisting that incident was just a malicious rumour. She claimed that she always carried an extra robe to change into after social events. It seemed to douse the tension in the meanwhile, while Mercy moved on to feature in several Nollywood films and become a more celebrated actress.

However, they would need more than a stunt of this nature to clear the air this time.
