Reports have emerged that singer, Davido, bought the heavily criticised single, ‘Gbagbe Oshi’ where he failed to do justice to his attempt at patois.
The song, investigations reveal, was originally owned by dancehall star, General Pype, who first performed the single at an event, ‘Industry Nite’ in 2014.
But General Pype never released the song and it was never heard again until Davido dropped the single recently, with critics highlighting the Sony signee’s poor attempt at patois.
It is further reported that after paying General Pype off in the region of N1 million, Davido recorded the entire thing in own voice, choosing to use General Pype’s lyrics and only adding some background vocals and adlibs to create the final work.
General Pype’s version was also recorded by Producer, Shizzi.
The song, according to industry experts, would have been a major hit if it was done by someone with quality patios ability. Probably Patoranking.
