David Boadi Asamoah, the Deputy Managing Director in charge of Commercial Services at the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), has been appointed as the acting Managing Director of the company.
His appointment comes in the wake of the resignation of Samuel Dubik Mahama on Wednesday, September 25, 2024.
The ECG Board Chairman, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, made the announcement during a press conference held in Accra on Thursday, September 26. He confirmed that the board had received Mr. Mahama’s resignation and emphasized that Asamoah would assume the role temporarily until a permanent Managing Director is appointed.
In his statement, Afenyo-Markin reassured the public that the transition in leadership would not affect the company’s operations, noting that ECG remains committed to delivering reliable services to its customers.

David Asamoah’s appointment is expected to ensure the continued smooth functioning of the ECG while the board searches for a new substantive Managing Director.
