Celebrated Ghanaian dancehall artiste Stonebwoy says his genre of music has come to stay and will always outlive rap music in the country.

The leader of Bhim Nation believes the ‘riddim driven’ music style best fits the most accepted way of Ghanaian music – singing and rap.

According to him, his path of music will not die as the Ghana dancehall acts always have something refreshing to put out for the public.

Speaking in an interview on GHOne TV’s entertainment talk show THE PUNDITS Tuesday, Stonebwoy said: “There’s more to reggae dancehall artistry/genre than there is to rap music in Ghana or from Ghana. Let me just break the ice; that’s the reason why I’m believing that we are where we are now and have something to give every minute.”

He further told host George Quaye: “I’m not trying to be bias. Ghanaian rap is just rap. We’ve all grown to know that when we say music, singing comes to mind first before rap, I believe. So once reggae has that same element, how will it die? Except the artistes will come and go but that genre will always be there…”

Stonebwoy was on PUNDITS to promote his upcoming Christmas 2016 gig themed ‘The Bhim Concert’ set for December 27 at the Conference Centre. Ticket prices have been pegged at GH¢ 70 and GH¢120 for regular and VIP respectively.
