Cristiano Ronaldo has decided to shave his head just days after winning the Champions League for the fourth time in his career.
Since arriving in the Premier League as a fresh-faced teenager Ronaldo has always sported a familiar spiky, overly-gelled hairstyle that has become his trademark.
But now, following a season of unprecedented success on the pitch, the Portuguese striker has opted for a bold new look.
The Real Madrid star revealed his smart new look in an Instagram post on Sunday evening.
“Do you like it????” the four-time Ballon d’Or winner wrote, along with a winking emoji.
“It was a promise. I’d promised that, if we won the Champions League and I scored a goal, I’d do it. I did it and I shaved myself,” Ronaldo told Real Madrid TV on Monday afternoon.
The photo produced a mixed response on social media, with a number of followers suggesting he looked like a taxi driver.
“I’d give you five stars as an uber driver. Very clean vehicle,” wrote one fan.
The 32-year-old striker once again proved instrumental, scoring two goals as Real Madrid beat Juventus 4-1 to retain the Champions League in Cardiff – the first side ever to do so.
Ronaldo hit back at his critics following his man-of-the match performance on Saturday evening, claiming his incredible scoring statistics speak for themselves.
“This is one of the best moments of my career but it seems I am able to say that every year,” he said.
“People won’t be able to criticise me because the numbers don’t lie.”
Ronaldo scored his 104th and 105th Champions League goals to extend his lead as the tournament’s all-time leading goalscorer.
