With his forthcoming debut EP, ”Vibe City” on the line, Cool Joe is steadily building great anticipation for the EP. After announcing and hosting an exclusive listening session, Cool Joe, who was in Ghana recently, sat with Kuulpeeps to talk about his upcoming body of work.
In a Q&A style interview curated by Kuul Peeps, Cool Joe answered to some questions and a few ”cool” stuff.
When asked about his favorite song on the EP, he said: ”I don’t know… All the songs on the EP are great, so I can’t decide”, but when asked to choose one, he retorted with, ‘True to Yourself’. About what inspired his showbiz name, ‘Cool Joe’, he said: ”Because I was born on Monday, (and) as a Ghanaian from Kumasi, I’m called Kojo, so I styled it a little and Cool Joe came up”.
With choosing a celebrity he would travel with to anywhere in the world, Joe mentioned Ghanaian actress, film producer and entrepreneur, Yvonne Nelson as his pick and Miami his preferred location because Belgium, where he is based now is quite boring. On being pressed on his favorite song off the EP again, he replied ”…That will be ‘Sweetie’ featuring Darkovibes, because I’m a fan of his energy and skill on that piece.” He also mentioned Darkovibesas his favorite artist in Ghana.
During his vacation in Ghana, Joe also shot a couple of videos for the EP, including the first and well-received single ‘Sweetie’ which happens to a fan favourite. The 6-track EP is to host guest appearances from acts like Darkovibes, Pistice, with the organic blueprint of the piece produced by Phace, BKD and Kuvie.
Cool Joe, born Benjamin Kojo Frimpong is currently signed to PhaceOne Records – a Belgium based Ghanaian label run by Dennis Mensah, alongside his prolific and experienced team who are ready to support the extraodrinary act.
