In the book, Change What You Eat; Change How You Look, the author who is also the Founder and CEO of Fat2Fit Weight Management Ghana shows how changing his diet completely transformed him from being obese to super fit. He takes the reader through a 7 step process that will help them break free from unhealthy food choices and wrong eating habits that steal their looks and health.
The Book Launch begun at 4:45pm with an opening prayer led by Rev. Andrew Shardow, a Minister at PCG Hope Congregation Sakumono. The MC for the event, Mr. Iyk Godson, outlined the purpose of gathering after which Ms. Nana Ama Acheampong introduced the Chairperson, Dr. Nortey Duah, a clinical Psychologist and host of Ultimate Health on Joy 99.7 FM and supporters in the persons of Mr. Patrick Edwin Fiscian, Mrs. Petra Aba Asamoah, Mrs. Susan Adu-Amankwah, Mr. Majid Michel, Rev. Andrew Shardow, Mrs. Dzifa Gray and Mrs. Irene Boateng. The Special Guest of the occasion was veteran actress Ms. Akorfa Edjeani-Asiedu. The Chairperson remarked of how thrilled he was to chair and support such a worthy cause and commended the audience as well for coming all out to support Akoto DerGross as he persevered in his passion.
The Program continued with the first book review by award winning and leadership expert Mr. Majid Michel. In his review he emphasized on how informative the book is in helping readers identify the wrong foods we consume, because without identification of the problem there can be no solution. He also applauded the simple words in which Akoto DerGross relayed information to readers such that it is very easy to comprehend. He encouraged all Ghanaians to make it a point to purchase a copy.
The second book review was done by Mrs. Petra Aba Asamoah, the Acting General Manager for MG Radio. She spoke of how he met Akoto DerGross about two years back and reminisced how passionate he was in helping people who had weight issues. This meet-up led to a partnership with 3FM to roll out the 3FMFat2Fit Challenge, which has successfully run three episodes, 21Days, and two 60Days sessions where participants are assisted to lose weight in an exciting and competitive way. She revealed how not so good a reader she is but found it fixating to read the book, Change What You Eat; Change How You Look. She mentioned how not so fat she was thankfully due to her genetic make-up but still finds it important to have a healthy eating lifestyle. To her, the book is timely and every Ghanaian must endeavor to have a copy of it.
The program continued with a music interlude by the Author and Ms. Dover Fiscian. They sung “Always on Time”, a song the author wrote during the challenging times of his weight loss journey. It was a sight to see as the audience joined in. For those who hardly know Akoto DerGross up-close, the interview session with Ms. Dzifa Gray of the Morning Ride show on Metro TV was revealing. The author revealed what inspired him to write the book and why that title. He shared how many Ghanaians are suffering several lifestyle diseases as a result of poor diet and unhealthy eating habits. He hoped the book will encourage Ghanaians to eat for NUTRITION and not just for TASTE.
The program continued with the Commemorative book launch which was led by Rev. Andrew Shardow. This was followed by first biddings for the books led by Mr. Ronald Adom Oppong, the Operations Manager for Metropolitan Health Insurance.
After a successful bidding session, veteran actress Ms. Akorfa Edjeani-Asiedu, the special guest of honor for the occasion commended the audience for their immense support towards Akoto’s vision. She shared how she was also battling with weight and promised to eat clean and exercise.
As true as the saying “seeing is believing” is, there was a testimony time where Ms. Acheampong and Ms. Evan, two successful weight losers shared their journey from Fat to Fit and how instrumental Akoto DerGross has been in changing their lives for the best. Another great side attraction of the book launch was a live upside down painting of Akoto DerGross by talented painter Mr. Isaac Chukwu. There was also a raffle draw for free give-aways of the book.
In his closing remarks, the Chairperson of the occasion, Dr. Nortey Duah commended the audience for staying all throughout the program and gave out free copies of his books to new Fat2Fit Ambassadors. This was followed by a powerful vote of thanks by Mrs. Agatha Ashley. Mrs. Irene Boateng, CEO of Micro Watch Health Ltd. gave the closing prayer and final blessings. She also encouraged the audience to reduce their oil intake and eat more healthy foods. She said food can be used s medicine to reverse a lot of diseases if cooked properly.
The program came to a final close with light refreshments and a networking time.
