There have been a lot of celebrity involvement in the politics of day this week. On Thursday, a number of actors visited President Mahama and wife to show solidarity over the loss of the President’s mother. Meanwhile Mzbel has been trending over her comments suggesting that the NDC is better than the NPP, while John Dumelo has been accused of campaigning for the NDC in schools.

Dumelo has been accused by the New Patriotic Party’s Youth Organizer, Sammy Awuku of visiting some senior high schools under the pretense of a peace ambassador but cunningly canvassing votes for President Mahama and the NDC.

John Dumelo says the reports are absolutely false.Speaking to Yaa Konama on UTV’s “Adekye Nsroma”, the 32-year-old actor said he only goes to the schools to talk about peace, and has never done politics with the students.

“We write to the school authorities and most of the schools approve it…I go with the aim of preaching peace. I advise them not to do politics on the campuses and I try as much as possible not to talk about politics…,” he said.

He added: “If you talk of outside the school; I will agree that I do politics especially when I go to the market but with the schools I don’t do politics. I don’t go with the green book neither do I wear party paraphernalia; I just don’t talk about politics.”

Mzbel is reported to have said that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) can never compare their eight-year rule to President Mahama’s 4 years’. According to GhanaPoliticsOnline, Mzbel  says Mahama’s time in power upstages the NPP’s eight years in power, meaning that the NDC deserves another term.

The website quoted Mzbel as: “We are in this country. We saw NPP when they had power, and we know what they showcased to the world that they have done.We have seen what a gentle humble Mahama has also showcased. Considering NPP’s 8 years to Mahama 4 years, you can never tell me Mahama doesn’t deserve a second term”

Meanwhile Yvonne Nelson has revealed that her phone  was hacked and spied on during her #Dumsormuststop campaign of 2015. In an interview with Kweku Sakyi Addo on his Friday night show on Starr FM, The Lounge, Miss Nelson said her phone was hacked by persons who thought her crusade was bad news.

The revelation drew a surprise cut on the face of Sports Minister Nii Lantey Vanderpuije, who was also on the show, suggesting to her it’s false her phone was hacked. Miss Nelson rebutted and insisted she wouldn’t make up the claim. A year after calls grew for an end to the situation, the country is back at grappling with power issues.
