Brazilian football legend, Pele’s son, Edson “Edinho” Cholbi do Nascimento, on Friday turned himself in to begin serving a 13-year prison sentence handed down by a court in Brazil.
Brazilian football legend, Pele’s son, Edson “Edinho” Cholbi do Nascimento, on Friday turned himself in to begin serving a 13-year prison sentence handed down by a court in Brazil.
Edinho was earlier convicted for money laundering and drug trafficking.
Pele’s son, himself a former footballer who briefly played for his father’s former club Santos, had so far avoided serving time while his case underwent a lengthy appeals process.
On Thursday, a judge reaffirmed Edinho’s conviction but reduced his original 2014 sentence from 33 years to 12 years and 10 months, and ordered him to begin serving time.
