The Ghana Police Service has arrested Bishop Elisha Salifu Amoako, founder of Alive Chapel International, and his wife, Mouha Amoako, following their son’s involvement in a tragic car accident at East Legon on Saturday, 12th October 2024.

The crash claimed the lives of two young girls, aged 12, and has shocked the community.

According to a police statement issued on Tuesday, 15th October 2024, the couple is currently in custody, assisting with investigations after their 16-year-old son, Elrad Salifu Amoako, caused the accident. Elrad, who was driving a Jaguar SUV with registration number GN 7801-20, collided with a Honda Acura 4×4 at Mensah Wood Street. The Honda, driven by Joseph Ackah, had four other passengers, including the two young victims.

Both vehicles caught fire upon impact, burning beyond recognition. While the suspect driver and his passenger were rescued and are currently receiving treatment at a hospital, the lives of Justine Agbenu and Maame Dwomoh, both aged 12, were lost at the scene.

A team from the Police Management Board, led by the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, visited the bereaved family to offer condolences and also checked on the injured victims in the hospital. Three of the five occupants in the Acura survived the crash, with two treated and discharged, while one remains hospitalized.

The police assured the public of a thorough investigation into the accident, emphasizing their commitment to bringing closure to the affected family. They also asked for continued prayers for the victims and their families during this difficult time.

The incident has sparked public outrage, with many questioning the circumstances under which a 16-year-old was allowed to drive such a vehicle, especially considering the tragic outcome.
