Best-Selling author, Barbara Taylor Bradford is dead.
According to multiple reports, the “A Woman of Substance” author died at the age of 91.
She died peacefully at her home on Sunday November 24 following a short illness, a spokeswoman said in a statement announcing her death.
The statement also added that Barbara died “surrounded by loved ones to the very end”, a spokeswoman said.
The author will be buried alongside her late husband at the city’s Westchester Hills Cemetery after a private funeral in New York.
The late Barbara Taylor Bradford was a prolific author whose debut book A Woman Of Substance is one of the best-selling novels of all-time.
She started writing from a young age with her last book, The Wonder of It All, published last year making a total of 40 novels during her career.
Throughout her lifetime, the best selling author sold over 91 million copies of her books and these books have been published in more than 40 languages and 90 countries.
It is no wonder she earned the name – the grand dame of blockbusters.
Born in Leeds in May 1933, Bradford met her husband in 1961 and they got married in 1963.
The couple were married for 55 years until 2019 when he died from a major stroke.
The author officially hit it big way back in 1979 after her novel – A Woman Of Substance was published in 1979, become a huge success.
A Woman Of Substance followed the story of Emma Harte who started as a servant in rural Yorkshire to heading a business empire, despite numerous personal tragedies along the way.
It became a huge bestseller and was followed by many other successful books.
A TV adaptation of A Woman Of Substance followed in 1985, and starred Liam Neeson with Jenny Seagrove playing Emma Harte. It aired on Channel 4 and went on to garner two Emmy nominations.
