Before Ciara’s #FreakMe there was Tiwa Savage’s #BeforeNko

Following the release of Ciara’s new single titled #FreakMe featuring singer Teckno has generated massive social media buzz from ardent music enthusiasts. But this controversy begs to fly in a positive light in the sense that the American singer, songwriter, record producer, dancer, model and actress Ciara took to Twitter to give Tiwa Savage credit for picking inspiration from her song Before Nko to write Freak Me.

She wrote; “Shout out to @TiwaSavage on the inspiration and sample used in #FreakMe! She’s a beast! I fell in love with the melody when I first heard it in Africa 3 years ago ❤️💃🏽. So good. #AfroWave”

Fans have been able to pinpoint the similarity between Nigeria’s super Tiwa Savage’s “Before Nko” a singoe off her R.E.D album released in 2015 and “Freak Me”. Fans were quick to point out the similarity between the rhythm of Freak Me and Tiwa Savage‘s Before Nko, a track in her 2015 album R.E.D.
