The theme for The Ghana Society’s showcase at the Luton Carnival which took place on 29th May 2016 was ‘Batakari Affair’ and as they have done over the last 10 years, they won 4 awards, the highest number of awards won by one particular group.
The team have been planning and are ready to present the ‘Batakari Fair’, first of it’s kind in the UK. This fair is part of the ‘Luton-African Cultural Expo’, part of the wide range of events being held to celebrate ‘Black History Month’. The Batakari Fair will take place from Monday 24th October to Friday 28th October at Lewsey Farm Learning Centre (92 Tomlinson Avenue Luton LU4 0QQ), and on Saturday 29th October at Taccert Business Expo, UK Centre for Carnival Arts (3 St Mary’s Road, Luton, LU1 3JA), 11am to 5pm daily.
The fair will be concluded at The Annual Prestigious Kente and Batakari Fundraising Dinner Dance. This Grande Finale event is supported by Mercy Ships, a team of volunteer medical personnel who travel the world in their ‘Mercy Ship’, training and offering medical treatments to the less fortunate.
The Kente and Batakari Fundraising Dinner Dance is also supported by theGhana High Commission UK, Ghana Union (London). The Ghana Carnival Ambassador for Northern Region Sherifa Gunu and D’ Cryme will be Guests of Honor, amongst many distinguished guests and patrons.
The venue for this grande finale event is Lewsey Farm Learning Centre, 92 Tomlinson Avenue Luton LU4 0QQ and will be happening on Saturday 29th October 2016 from 7pm till 2am.
