Samuel Ampah, known in the entertainment circles as Kahpun and mostly loved for his selective choice of words in most of his songs and a greater command over the reggae/dancehall genre, has won himself a nomination spot at this year’s Bass Awards- an annual award scheme which honors hardworking acts in the reggae/dancehall fraternity.
The ‘Teacher’ crooner is rubbing shoulders with other talented acts like Willing Wanna, Renner, A. J Lyrics, Nyamekye, Wan Row, Tsobi, Xhilla Roy, Article Wan and Frank Guy for the enviable ‘Discovery Of The Year’ title. This category automatically gives us an insight of who to watch out for next in terms of reggae/dancehall music.
2016 CMAs’ Best Reggae/Dancehall Act winner has been very much consistent since the beginning of his music journey and has till date shown no signs of backing out. Kahpun may be a dancehall act but punches like a rapper which has made his style stand out of the lot. Although young in the industry, we can confidently deduce Kahpun is Ghana’s Bob Marley.
There have been rumors of his affiliation to a Jamaican record label of which we are yet to confirm the authenticity of it.
The Higher Heightz Army General is currently promoting his new single ‘Dutty Heart’, which sheds light on the Pull-Him-Down syndrome in the Ghanaian music industry. The great tune was produced by SsnowBeatz and it’s receiving a massive airplay.
