More celebrities continue to declare support for their choice housemate at the ongoing #BBNaija reality show, but Basketmouth may have taken loyalty to a new level.
Yesterday, the iconic comedian took to his Instagram page to reveal, for the first time, that he is in support of top contender Efe, and some trolls had a problem with his choice.
In a now-deleted comment, an Instagrammer called out the comedian for investing time and emotions in the housemate he says ‘can’t speak good English’ and lacked ‘talent’. This ticked Basketmouth the wrong way, because the comedian who rarely engages fans on social media, clapped back at the troll.
“You’re a cheap rat poison! What’s your own talent? Hating?” Basketmouth fired back.
The troll quickly deleted his prints from the comment section, but not long after, other commenters hopped on the post to drag him for filth.
It clearly is a tensed week for many Nigerians, many of whom only recently began to catch up with the TV show which was earlier branded immoral. However, #BBNaija has led to important conversations like understanding consent/sexual assault after Kemen got disqualified for molesting housemate TBoss.
Now, folks are massively pitching their tents behind their favourite housemates. While some chose their faves based on their skills – like Bisola who is an amazing actress, others do this because a particular housemate entertained viewers.
For Efe, he has been branded the ‘realest’ for his performance at the house. He gained street credibility because he seemingly doesn’t ‘pretend’ as folks have accused other housemates of, and often communicates in the language many Nigerians grew up knowing –pidgin.
And Basketmouth is not only pitching his tent behind his housemate; he is also defending Efe from trolls.
