At 12:00pm, the countdown began as students tore their envelopes to see where they will be continuing their professional medical journey. Mrs. Nancy Abu- Bonsrah matched with the Johns Hopkins University. This joyous revelation makes her the first black female to be matched at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in the Department of Neurosurgery and will be the first black female neurosurgeon trained in the schools 124 years of existence.
She is originally from Ghana and is the daughter of Seth Abu-Bonsrah and Georgina Abu-Bonsrah. Mrs. Abu-Bonsrah will be the first physician in her family, including the extended family. She attended Mount St. Mary’s University in Maryland and got a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry/Chemistry joining the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in 2012 to pursue Doctor of Medicine, Medicine. -Nat Abu Bonsrah
