One of Nigeria’s favourite celebrity couples, Adesua and Banky W are set to join the lineup for the Africa Day Benefit Concert With Idris Elba.

They will be performing with some of the biggest celebrities across Africa such as Davido, Burna Boy, Trevor Noah, Stonebwoy, etc for the humanitarian concert powered by YouTube and ViacomCBS Networks Africa.

The concert will be streamed on the MTV Base Africa YouTube channel on Monday, May 25th at 5 pm and broadcasted on MTV Base (DStv channel 322 and GOtv channel 72), MTV (DStv channel 130) BET Africa (DStv channel 129) at 8 pm. It will also air at 10 pm on Comedy Central (DStv channel 122).

The two-hour concert will raise funds to support the food and health needs for children and families in Africa affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. YouTube and Viacom will be partnering with the World Food Programme and UNICEF to reach COVID-affected communities across Africa.

YouTube’s Managing Director of Emerging Markets in Europe, the Middle East and Africa, Alex Okosi explains why the concert is important. He says, “African Music is powerful in its ability to uplift and connect the world. YouTube is proud to be a platform for the amazing talents that have come to celebrate Africa Day and play a role in helping to raise funds for those affected by COVID-19 on the continent.”

Monde Twala, Senior Vice President and General Manager for ViacomCBS Networks also sheds some light on their involvement in the concert. He says, “We are proud to have formidable partners and talent on board as we tackle this unprecedented humanitarian crisis. ViacomCBS Networks Africa is proud to work alongside YouTube to support the World Food Programme and UNICEF in their efforts.”

Other talented artistes that will be performing at the Africa Day Benefit Concert With Idris Elba include Ludacris, Sean Paul, Angelique Kidjo, AKA, Diamond Platnumz, Fally Ipupa, Nasty C, Sauti Sol, Sho Madjozi, Teni, Tiwa Savage, Yemi Alade, Adekunle Gold, Anthony Hamilton, Bebe Cool, Busiswa, C4 Pedro, Reekado Banks, M.anifest, Niniola, Salif Keita, DJ Maphorisa & KABZA De Small and Toofan.
