That! = Things Meghan Markle and Prince Harry did at their wedding today!

The whole world literally came to a standstill to witness the union between the black American actress and the British Prince. Whether she is truly the first person of colour in the British royal family is still up for debate, but as far as most of the world knows, it really is the first time we’re witnessing a marriage between a black person and a member of the royal family.

And the celebration came with a healthy splash of melanin magic that we won’t be forgetting in a hurry.

Take a look at 7 of those memorable moments below.

1. Oprah Winfrey’s Arrival

Queen Oprah was on time, and boy did she look gorgeous! The media mogul and richest black woman in the world was picture perfect in a pink Stella McCartney number paired with a hat and sunnies. A black queen!

2. Serena Williams’s Cascading Braids

Does it get any more blacker than Serena rocking an almost-floor-length braids hairstyle to the royal wedding? Serena’s hairstyle is undoubtedly one of the highest points of the ceremony filled with a thousand and one high points.

3. The Mother Of The Bride

Locs, nose ring, and that oh-so-good chocolate skin! Ms. Doria Ragland was unapologetically black, and breathtakingly beautiful as she gave out her daughter in marriage. A proud mother if we ever saw one!

4. Karen Gibson And The Kingdom Choir

A black choir at the royal wedding?! Who would have thought! Karen Gibson and The Kingdom Choir’s rendition of the gospel version of American R&B classic, “Stand By Me” will be talked about for a very long time, but so would the afros, the twist-outs, the melanin and sheer blackness of all of it!

5. The Afro-Haired Cellist

19-year-old Sheku Kanneh-Mason was a depiction of Black Boy Joy at the royal wedding. His awe-inspiring delivery of ‘Ave Maria’ as the newlyweds signed the registry tells us everything we need to know about why Meghan picked up the phone and called him to specially request that he play at their wedding.

6. Bishop Michael Curry And His Blackitty Black Sermon

We were over here in our houses screaming, “Ride on, Pastor” to Bishop Michael Curry’s sermon because, why not?

He quoted Martin Luther King, he talked slavery and justice, he preached love, and made the whole of social media believers – for as long as his sermon lasted.

7. Meghan Herself!

I mean, I don’t know about y’all but I can’t get over the fact that there’s finally a black woman in Buckingham Palace. Like what?! A whole black Duchess! This is definitely one for the books! And please don’t be a spoilsport by bringing up that, “she’s only half black” thing. We know, we know! 😏
