Last night was one for the books. The duo of Jennifer Lopez and Shakira made history as the first Latinas to headline a Super Bowl halftime performance, and boy did they put on a show!

From the choreography to the costumes, the two superstars made sure to give the crowd and everyone who tuned in a show to remember.

Below are 5 major highlights from the show.

Jennifer Lopez spinning on a pole like she was born to do it! Or maybe she was. Jennifer, who turned 50 last year continues to prove that when it comes to her, age is just a number. She worked the pole in a manner that would surely make any professional stripper go green with envy.

Shakira’s hips still don’t tell a damn lie! It’s been over a decade since Shakira released her hit song song, ‘Hips Don’t Lie’ and if there’s anything her performance last night told us, it is that those hips are still as honest as ever. From ‘Hips Don’t Lie’ to ‘She Wolf’ to ‘Waka Waka’, ‘Whenever, Wherever’ and more, the 43-year-old’s energy and belly dancing routine were through the roof and the audience ate it all up.

Their wardrobe was lit! Each of the women not only killed their performances, they brought their A-game in the style department. Ashanti opened the halftime performance wearing an embellished red dress that quickly transitioned into a mini skirt and cropped top. Jennifer Lopez dazzled in a variety of custom Versace outfits. And then the two of them closed out their performance in sparkly outfits – Shakira in an all-gold ensemble and Jennifer in a silver one.

J.Lo’s mini me taking the stage like a pro! Surely, the apple doesn’t fall far from its tree. Jennifer’s 11-year-old showed the world that she’s very much her mother’s daughter when she made a cameo on stage for an awe-inspiring rendition of J.Lo’s ‘Let’s Get Loud’. Her brief appearance was one of the most talked about moments on social media during the show.

Jennifer Lopez and her daughter, Emme

And that not-so-subtle political statement! In an unmistakable sub to the United States government for their ill-treatment of immigrants and their children, Jennifer who was born to Puerto Rican parents delivered a powerful performance of Bruce Springsteen’s ‘Born In The USA’ backed by a children’s choir. For the performance, she wore a Versace fur coat that had the Puerto Rican flag on the inside and the American flag on the outside. There were also a couple of children singing from cage-like structures to perhaps, represent the thousands of immigrant children detained at the US border by the government.
