30 Names Of Noise Makers In Nigeria: Those Who Made The Headlines In 2016 (1)
25. Linda Ikeji:
Following her indefatigable and unflinching hanker to only think outside the box towards creativity; Miss Ikeji – the owner of LindaIkejisBlog – has been faced with the GOOD, BAD and then the UGLY sides of online reportage.
Linda Ikeji Fires Shots After Shots In Response To Wizkid Calling Her A B*Tch?
Earlier this year, an old vendetta was triggered between Wizkid and her which later developed into a full-blown, heated war of words.
Linda had on Instagram posted that the Landlady of the Lekki home, which Wizkid claimed to have purchased, gave him a notice to quit, arguing further that the Porsche bought by the ‘Ojuelegba’ crooner was on hire purchase. Not still satisfied, she said he was more than 25 years, an age he claimed to be.

The upshot of the vocal war left the social media community buzzing in the gust of the traded vituperation with Nigerians revelling in the nastiness.
Months later, in the wake of the story involving Mayowa Ahmed, Linda Ikeji was wrongly thrown under the bus for saying that the #SaveMayowa campaign was a scam – an insinuation that was later confirmed that she was telling the truth.
What actually makes this entrepreneurial blogger a quintessence of unmatched disposition is her flamboyant insouciance towards the strokes of criticism.
24. Police Recruitment:
In an attempt to strengthen and re-energise the Nigerian Police Force to tackle more security challenges facing the country, the President Muhammadu Buhari led government directed the recruitment of 10,000 qualified Nigerians into the Force.
Police Recruitment: 796,152 Nigerians Apply For 10,000 Slots
The recruitment exercise, which commenced in April and was greeted with a ‘vote of confidence’ by many – particularly unemployed graduates – saw the recruitment portal crashing with overwhelming views, as over a million Nigerians ‘impatiently’ divulged their willingness for a job of just 10,000 slots.
While the demand for the job overwhelmingly exceeded the expectation, reports then started to generate online that the recruitment exercise has been suspended with the Senate Police Committee citing irregularities and lopsidedness.

Trouble started when the Police Service Commission (PSC) decided to jettison the ‘modus operandi’ and base the exercise on equal number per state – citing orders from above – when in fact it should be based on local government areas and principle of equality that will witness the recruitment of nine candidates from each LGA as against the earlier plan of equality per state.

After much deliberation, the PSC and Senate resolved to allow the status quo to prevail and only recently, the names of successful applicants were published on the recruitment portal of the Nigerian Police Force.
23. Nnamdi Kanu:
The director of Radio Biafra and leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, is a diehard and audacious freedom fighter, whose commitment to the course of the Biafra Republic and follower-ship is more synonymous to the relationship between a religious leader and his disciples.

However, things went ugly, after the Federal Government apprehended the IPOB leader and subsequently slammed an 11-count charge bothering on treasonable felony and alleged involvement in acts of terrorism alongside three other pro-Biafra agitators, Mr. Chidiebere Onwudiwe, Benjamin Madubugwu and David Nwawuisi.
His continuous detention has stirred outrage in the social media community with several supporters of Biafra protesting on the streets that he be released even declaring September 23, as a day to sit at home and press home their demands to the government.

However, things went messier on Tuesday when a viral video emerged on social media where Kanu was seen speaking tough after learning that witnesses that will testify against him will give their testimony in secret.
22. Fulani Herdsmen:
Fulani herdsmen are nomadic herders, whose history can be traced to the Futa Jalon mountains of West Africa, and whose primary occupation is raising livestock.
Though a very conservative tribe, a section of these herdsmen have transmuted to vicious marauders, whose sole aim is to kill and wreck monumental havoc all in an attempt to fend and feed their cattle in a showdown of land resource based conflicts with farmers in mostly north-eastern Nigeria.
Anxiety As Over 500 Fulani Herdsmen Plot To Invade Enugu Community
Enugu state played host to their cruel hostilities as scores of residents were killed with houses, churches and vehicles set ablaze. Even soulless animals were not spared during their numerous and malevolent raids and ambushes on towns and communities which they have viewed as soft targets.
Images of grisly proportion also flooded the internet on the mayhem wrecked by the Fulani herdsmen on the citizenry of the Riverine Abugbe community of Agatu, Benue state.
Residents of Benue, Adamawa, Zamfara, Kaduna and so many other states have also been victims of their rampaging carnage with an estimate of thousands killed in the process with the government doing apparently less to stem the tides of their nefarious acts.
Not satisfied with the myriad of conflicts on grassland grazing, the cattle rustlers took over Africa’s largest city and economic hub, Lagos, as its next breeding ground for its wanton and unlawful activities.
Panic and outrage were aroused in the country’s blogosphere earlier this year as some incorrigible herdsmen were spotted on the Ajegunle axis causing nuisance with their cattle and further impeding traffic flow.
21. Ayodele Fayose:
Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti state is the definitive embodiment of a forthright controversialist and consequentialist, and one of the loudest mouths in the ‘fading’ opposition political party.
Fondly called Oshokomole, Ekun-Oko Ekiti, Jogunomi 1 of Ekiti by residents of the state, a quick peek at the appellation, which means “the only man capable of pinning down all political rivals that come in form of antagonists,” lends testament to the fact that Fayose is not a man that will be wavered or cowered by the consequence of his actions, even to a threat of imprisonment in a penitentiary.
In March, while the rest of Nigeria continued to anticipate the return of the school girls, who were kidnapped by terror group Boko Haram, Fayose insisted that the Chibok kidnappings were nothing more than a ruse and a political strategy.
The spotlight also kept its beam on him earlier this year as he embarked on a strike action in a ‘satirical’ bid to show solidarity for the civil servants in the state, who had earlier embarked on an industrial action due to five months of non-payment of salaries.
Well known to have a sour relationship with President Buhari, Fayose extended his inimical provocation to the wife of the president, Aisha Buhari, as he accused her of being named in a U.S. court document, alleged to have been involved in a bribery case involving a convicted former U.S. lawmaker, Williams Jefferson.

Although Aisha Buhari denied the allegations and even threatened a lawsuit, Fayose still maintained that she was the one indicted in the corruption case.
