The African Women in Leadership Organisation (AWLO), is a not-for-profit organization whose mission is to bring together female executives, professionals and leaders to further advance the leadership status of women in the continent. AWLC is one of AWLO’s flagship events.

AWLC began in Ghana 9 years ago as the West African Women in Leadership Conference (WAWLC), but has fast grown to become the all inclusive African Women in Leadership Conference, to cater to women of African Descent from all continents.

This year’s edition is quite nostalgic as AWLC takes us back to Ghana, with even M-Plaza our first venue of AWLC in 2009 back on board as the venue for the 2017 conference. Amongst other historic features will be the keynote address by the first lady of Ghana, H.E. Mrs. Rebbecca Akufuo-Addo to open this year’s conference.

The plenary sessions will be moderated by Rashida Saani Nasamu: CEO I-ZAR Group and hosted by Michelle Attoh: Director, Emerge Ghana Limited. A one day special “True Women” workshop session on the 31st will be facilitated by Dr. Alaa El-Halwagy; A Business Strategist & Executive Coach – CEO, Innovative Group USA.

It will include Networking sessions, Main Conference sessions and a Workshop session, The main conference session will include speaker presentations, open floor discussions and panel sessions. Other highlights of the conference include a Business Welcome Cocktail, Sight Seeing around the beautiful city of Accra, and musical performances. The African Women in Leadership Conference culminates in an Awards Gala Evening where women who have contributed immensely to Africa’s Development and to the advancement of African women’s leadership and development are honoured.

Speaking on the conference, Hon Elisha Attai, Founder/President AWLO stated, “These three-day impactful conference and networking event will consolidate on the United Nations 2030 gender parity agenda, with an implementation of this year’s International Women’s Day theme; #BeBoldForChange at a critical time when the contribution of women is most critical.”
