It’s October and it’s officially Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

With this in mind, as a total package woman, there are some signs in your body you shouldn’t ignore as they can be an indication of cancer.

Before diving into the awareness of breast cancer, it is pertinent to know some cancer symptoms in women.

It is essential you know and be observant of your body. Your body is your pride, and you shouldn’t overlook some signs. Do not be afraid. Early detection saves future regrets.

Breast Cancer Awareness Month has been celebrated every October since the early nineties. It is called ‘Pink October’ as people around the globe adopt the pink color and display a pink ribbon to raise awareness about breast health.

Breast cancer is one of the most common cancers affecting women worldwide, with millions diagnosed each year.

Awareness is crucial, as it can lead to early detection, better treatment outcomes, and ultimately, saved lives.

Cancer is a disease in which abnormal cells divide uncontrollably and destroy body tissue.

As a woman changes her food habits and daily routine, her personal life balance can change her health.

Women’s bodies undergo a lot of changes during these phases of their lives. This leads to the majority of cancer symptoms being misjudged.

Here are 10 Signs you need to watch out for, my ladies as they can be indicative of cancer.

LOSS OF APPETITE OR FEELING FULL ALL THE TIME
Check out if you are never hungry or feel full all the time.

A BLOATED OR PROTRUDED BELLY
Is your tummy looking that of a pregnant woman and you are not? Or do you feel bloated after eating or drinking a lot? Especially during your menstrual cycle. But if you feel bloated for a long time, this is a warning alarm for you.

SWOLLEN LEG
Swollen legs in women should not be taken for granted. Typically, a swollen leg isn’t a sign of cancer unless you also have pain, discharge, or other cancer symptoms.

ABNORMAL VAGINAL BLEEDING
Abnormal vaginal bleeding is a symptom experienced by women with cancer. Vaginal bleeding is abnormal after menopause. Bleeding after menopause creates a concern to consult a doctor. Abnormal bleeding before menopause is also a concerning symptom. Bleeding or heavy bleeding between the menstrual cycle and at the time of sexual intercourse needs medical treatment.

EXTREME WEIGHT LOSS WITHOUT TRYING
The sudden weight loss happens without a change in your diet and exercise should not be ignored. Gradual weight loss is not a word of concern, but extreme weight loss is surely a concern. Please, do not ignore your extreme weight loss.

BREAST LUMP
Thousands of women ignore this sign. I went for a check-up on this to be sure as women are more likely to fall prey to it.
Lumps, discoloration of the breast or nipple, and redness of the breasts are likely signs, that is why I advise women to abstain from running creams on their breasts and do more breast self-examination.

FOUL-SMELLING VAGINAL DISCHARGE
Dark and foul-smelling vaginal discharge are the symptoms of cancer in women. Apart from a vaginal infection, foul smell can also be a vaginal infection.

URINE CHANGES
Urinary tract infections are a common reason why your bladder habits change. But pee problems are sometimes a sign of something more serious. See your doctor right away if you have things like blood in your urine.

CHRONIC COUGH
A lasting cough is sometimes a sign of lung cancer. If you are hoarse all the time, that could be cancer in your voice box. Tell your doctor about these symptoms.

TROUBLE SWALLOWING
If you have trouble swallowing when eating or drinking, and it that has been accompanied by weight loss or occasional vomiting, it is time to see your doctor.

If you experience any of these signs, consult a healthcare professional for further evaluation and peace of mind. Early detection is key in the fight against cancer, and being proactive about your health can make all the difference.
