This is the second edition after last year’s ceremony which was very successful and brought together several wine producers from South Africa to Ghana to interact with consumers, distributors and wholesalers as well as people in the hospitality and tourism industry. This year’s wine tasting fair is on Saturday July 16, at the Movenpick Ambassador Hotel in Accra.

The programme will also offer Wine Connoisseurs and Wine lovers the first ever opportunity to compete in the prestigious SOMMELIER WORLD CUP in South Africa. The WOSA SOMMERLIER World Cup was opened to all hospitality industry/service workers (Hotels, WINE Bars/Lounges, Restaurants and Pubs) working in Ghana.
Applicants that have been shortlisted will compete in the Grand Finale event on Saturday. The eventual winner in Ghana as the BEST SOMMELIER will receive an all-expense paid trip to Cape Town, South Africa to represent Ghana at the SOMMELIER WORLD CUP in September 2016.
This event is a continuation of Wines of South Africa recognition of Ghana as a competitive market over the years for South African Wines therefore investing and committing a lot of resources in growing the Wines of South Africa brands in Ghana.
WOSA hopes this event will explore and offer more opportunities for residents of Ghana working in the Hospitality and service industry to showcase their knowledge and talent in the prestigious WINE Industry and hopefully entrench the lifestyle culture of Wine beyond the traditional markets. The fair is in partnership with the South African High Commission in Ghana, Jon Williams Events Company and the EIB network. It is also supported by South African Airways, AmeyawDebrah.com and the Business and Financial Times.
Wines of South Africa is a fully inclusive body, representing all South African producers of wine who export their products. WOSA, which was established in its current form in 1999, has over 500 producers on its database, comprising all the major South African wine exporters. It is also independent of any government department, although it is recognized by government as an Export Council.
WOSA’s mandate is to promote the export of all South African wines in key international markets. Traditional markets include the United Kingdom, Germany, Sweden and the Netherlands. More recently, WOSA has also been developing markets for South African wines in the United States, Canada, Russia, and Asia. WOSA is funded by a levy per litre on all bottled natural and sparkling wines exported.
